A spectacular extension to a unique dwellinghouse outside Glasgow. The original dwellinghouse was designed by McInnes Gardner Architects in 1990 and recently extended to provide a hardwood pannelled vaulted ceiling Lounge with large picture window to the fields beyond.

The extension is finished identically with the original dwellinghouse to acheive a seamless connection. The pitched roofs aligning perfectly with the existing bell-cast slate roof.

The 6m wide frameless window brings the garden into the house and blurs the indoor/outdoor distinction.

Hardwood-faced diamond shaped panels to the ceiling of the double-height extension were hand-cut and fixed by master carpenter Allan Leckie to ensure that the hip-junctions align precisely along the edges of the diamonds

The extension is steel framed to permit the large glazed walls and vaulted ceiling design.
